Discuss the problem of unemployment and offer possible solutions

Nowadays the unemployment is widespread problem. Not only are the young people without any job places but also qualified workers. Today is very hard to find a job even by person with work experience. That causes the increasing number of unemployed people what results in pathologies like thefts, prostitution and alcoholism.

Unemployment has a lot of causes. In my opinion the main cause is the reluctance of employers to taking on new employees. Employers are very often afraid of the fact that they will not be able to fire people in time when their company will not bring as big incomes as they have planned, what could result in lower benefits for the management team. Our legal system is also very unfair. Employers get money for each new worker but only during three months. After that they no longer get this extra money, what is more they have to pay bigger tax for employee. If they have possibility to reduce costs they simply fire unprofitable staff.

Another cause can be the fact that people after graduating school or university are not wanted kind of a worker. They don’t have any work experience and their preparation to job is very expensive and unprofitable for the employer. That is why they do not decide to give young person a job but give more responsibilities for not very much higher salary.

Sometimes happens that people lose their jobs because of the changes in industry or technological changes. Some of the professions are starting to be obsolete and no longer required. People who represent this group of unemployed have to retrain to more required professions. But this is not as simply as it looks. Courses are often very expensive and also getting certificates isn’t so cheap. Because of the high cost most of people cannot afford for retraining themselves.

Unemployed people are often depressed by their own situation. It causes the developing of pathologies like alcoholism, prostitution, thefts. Because of money deficiency people start to steal, young women earning money by their bodies and drink to forget about the problems. People start having problems with law and lose chances to find job in future.

Government tries really hard to reduce the scale of unemployment. It promises grants to people for opening their own companies and making new work places. In my opinion good way to solve this problem is organizing free courses, which helps to learn new, modern jobs, employing young people despite the fact, that they have no experience, because they learn really fast. It is necessary to give a chance for people, if we don’t want to contribute to developing pathologies in society.

To sum up, I want to say, that it is very hard to get rid of unemployment problem. Even countries highly developed have this problem and try to reduce its scale. The number of unemployed people will be changing, but it lies in our business and depends on our interest in other people how, and in which direction will it go.
